Genetic Results for Personalized Care
At Atomic Mindworks we specialize in individual medication management by integrating genetic reviews, including assessment of MTHFR, MTRR, MTR, and COMT genes. Understanding a patient's genetic profile allows us to tailor treatments that address specific metabolic pathways, such as those involving homocysteine metabolism.
Elevated homocysteine (Hcy) levels have been link to psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder. A study involving 191 first-episode inpatients aged 18-40 years found that those with psychiatric conditions had significantly higher Hcy levels compared to healthy controls. Notably, male patients exhibited higher Hcy levels across several disorders, including schizophrenia and major depressive disorder. However, no significant differences in Hcy levels were observed among the various psychiatric disorders studied, (Fan et al, 2024).
